The Test of Cold

One of the most immediate ways to distinguish natural stone from glass or plastic is its thermal conductivity.

• The Reality: Natural crystals, from our grounding Smoky Quartz to our visionary Amethyst, are exceptional heat conductors. When you first touch a Solprism piece, it should feel significantly cooler than the ambient room temperature.
• The Test: Hold the stone against your cheek or the inside of your wrist. A natural mineral will remain cold for several seconds before slowly absorbing your body heat. Glass or plastic, by contrast, warms up almost instantly.

Inclusions as DNA

To the untrained eye, an inclusion (a small crack, cloud, or speck) might look like a flaw. To Solprism Jewelry, it is a Certificate of Origin.

• Natural Markers: True earth-mined stones rarely possess “perfect” clarity. Look for what we call “Veils” (feathery wisps), “Phantoms” (ghost-like growth layers), or “Seeds” (iron-oxide specks). Our Ascent Flow (Yellow Phantom) is defined by these unique, miniature internal galaxies.
• The Red Flag: If you examine a bead and see perfectly spherical air bubbles, the material is almost certainly glass. Nature creates fractals, structural lattices, and organic wisps—but never perfectly round air bubbles.

The Weight of Existence

Natural minerals have a higher Specific Gravity (density) than their synthetic counterparts. Weight is the physical manifestation of earthly pressure.

• The Red Flag: If a stone’s color looks “neon,” “flat,” or is 100% uniform across every single bead without any natural variation, it has likely been chemically dyed or is entirely synthetic.

The “Creamy” Factor

• Authentic Luster: High-quality natural stones, such as our Glacial Calm (Aquamarine), often possess a luster that feels “creamy,” “oily,” or “succulent.” This soft, diffused glow is a direct result of high mineral density.
• The Counterfeit: Glass or low-grade synthetics have a “vitreous” (sharp, mirror-like) luster that feels cold and brittle. They lack the soft, jade-like depth of a stone that has matured in the earth for millennia.
